Doug Serrano
Managing Partner
Quiet Excellence

Doug Serrano is a recently retired US Army Colonel who led the efforts of the only Government organization to ever win the Gold-Level "Eureka" Award from the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) Program (Baldrige-based). While under his command, his organization received several notable awards, including being recognized by the President of the United States with his Commander in Chief’s Award for Installation Excellence.

He is a managing partner of the consulting firm, Quiet Excellence, LLC – “Helping leaders create organizational success.” As such, he travels across the country assisting organizations in their journeys to performance excellence. He is an excellent source of knowledge, especially in leadership and strategic planning for large organizations, and from CEOs to front-line workers, he is equally effective in transferring his knowledge to others in an engaging and light-hearted fashion that makes the learning stay with his audience.

He has served as a senior examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program; as a judge for the Ohio Partnership for Excellence; and as an external assessor for a Baldrige-based award program in India. Additionally, while assigned to The Pentagon, in the Office of the Army’s Chief of Staff, Colonel Serrano initiated the actions that led to the creation of the US Army’s Performance Excellence Award. This combination of roles – from applicant, to examiner, to judge, to program administration – provides him with a perspective on the Baldrige Program that no one else shares.

His academic background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University, a Master of Science in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and a Master of Military Art and Science from the famed School of Advanced Military Studies, where he also served as a Seminar Leader in the graduate school program.
