Why is this seminar of interest to Wisconsin engineers and managers?

We live in a highly competitive, global economy. The only way we can continue to earn our wages and keep up our standard of living is to make products and services that more people want, while keeping the cost of production constant or dropping.

Innovation – improvement – begins at home, with us. A company that does not have an improved product in the works will soon lose sales to firms that do.

Made in Wisconsin,” the 50th Annual H.R. Bergmann Memorial Seminar, gives you a front-row seat to innovation happening here, innovation that brings jobs to Wisconsin, innovation that you can learn from.

Some products described at this seminar will have a large impact, such as the diesel engine for airplanes that will use jet

fuel, not leaded gasoline. Some have multiple small effects that add up to a lot, such as the developments in plastic package materials for foodstuffs and medical items that keep these Wisconsin manufacturers profitable and their workers employed. Some products develop over a long time; the CT-High Definition scanner was launched from a materials breakthrough seven years ago.

Innovation means jobs. C&D Technologies bases its lithium-ion battery research in Milwaukee, and the company plans its production facility here as well. All these improvements are moving our companies and economy in the right direction.

If you are an engineer or manager developing new products, the people presenting at this seminar have things to tell you. Many of them face issues and conditions very like those you face. Hearing what they have to say, getting to know the challenges they face, can teach you how to do better with your own products.
